All fifteen of your checkers start off the board, you race to enter them into your opponent's home board, and one roll — 1 and 2 — can flip the whole game: play the 1 and the 2, then name any double you like, play it, and roll again.
Here you can play Acey-Deucey online free, straight from the browser: hit Quick Play and you are seated against a real opponent in seconds, or create a room and share its code with a friend. The winner scores one point for every opposing checker that has not been borne off — so a shutout is worth a full 15. There is no doubling cube, exactly like the wardroom table.

Two players each start with 15 checkers off the board and enter them into the opponent's home board before racing around to bear them off. Rolling 1-2 ("acey-deucey") lets you play the 1 and the 2, then name and play any double you wish, then roll again — and if that roll is another 1-2, the chain continues. The winner scores 1 point per opposing checker not yet borne off; there is no doubling cube.
Scoring follows the classic Navy pay table:
| Result | Winner scores |
|---|---|
| Normal win — loser has borne off some checkers | 1 per opposing checker left (1–14) |
| Shutout — loser has borne off none | 15 (all opposing checkers) |
| Doubling cube | Not used |
| Gammon / backgammon bonuses | Not used — no extra multipliers |
There is no separate gammon or backgammon bonus: the score is simply one point for each opposing checker still on the board or still waiting to enter.
Yes. Neither player has any checkers on the board at the start; both players enter their fifteen checkers into the opponent's home board using the dice, and entry can be mixed freely with normal forward moves.
You first play the 1 and the 2 normally. Then you name any double from 1-1 to 6-6 and play up to four moves of it. Then you roll again and play that roll. If the extra roll is itself 1-2, the sequence repeats — and chains as long as the dice cooperate.
No. Once you have entered one or more checkers you may use later rolls to move them forward, to enter more checkers, or to do both in the same turn. Only checkers on the bar have a compulsory re-entry.
No. The American Navy version is played without a doubling cube, and gammons or backgammons do not multiply the score.
The winner scores one point for each opposing checker that has not been borne off — including checkers still waiting to enter or sitting on the bar. A total shutout is therefore worth 15 points.
A hit blot goes to the bar and must re-enter on the opponent's home board, exactly like the initial entry, before that player may make any other move.
